Zutons and Amy Winehouse collaboration

The Zutons want to work with Amy Winehouse but are wary of her wild side.

Video of the day is Matthew Ryan 'Jane , I Still Feel The Same'

The British band say they would like to collaborate with the troubled singer - who recorded a version of their hit track 'Valerie' with super producer Mark Ronson - but fear they couldn't keep up with her on a night out.

Frontman Dave McCabe explained to BANG Showbiz: "I really like her version of 'Valerie'. I think it's a totally positive thing, plus we get paid for it! I'd like to have a go at working with her, but I'm not sure what we'd do.

"I don't know if I'd go out with her though - if we took her to Liverpool, she would probably get us into loads of s**t like she does in London when she is drunk, only it would be worse."

The original version of 'Valerie' reached number nine in the British singles chart when it was released in June 2006, while Amy and Mark's version hit the number two spot last October.

Ono in fight over copyright of rarely seen Lennon video

>

BOSTON - They are rare, intimate images of John Lennon just before the breakup of the Beatles: He's hunched over a piano writing songs, smoking pot, joking about putting LSD in President Nixon's tea.

Almost four decades after the footage was shot at Lennon's estate in England, his widow is in court, fighting to keep the images private.

World Wide Video LLC, a Lawrence, Mass.-based company, claims it owns the 10 hours of raw footage, but Yoko Ono claims she is the rightful owner. World Wide Video has filed a federal lawsuit against Ono, claiming Ono's attempts to stop the company from publicly showing the footage is a copyright infringement.

At preliminary hearing in the case Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Boston, arguments on Ono's motion to dismiss were scheduled for May 21. Both sides also agreed not to show the film while the case is working through the courts. (...)

Motley Crue Protest Shot Down

Cathy Dobson of the London Free Press reports: Sarnia Bayfest [music festival taking place this July in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada] organizer Michele Stokley wants Sarnia Coun. Dave Boushy to know a member of MÖTLEY CRÜE was once invited to the White House to talk about overcoming drug addiction.

"Nikki Sixx can speak in Washington, but Boushy says he shouldn't come to Sarnia? If you know nothing about the band, how can you judge them?" Stokley asked.

Boushy tried Monday to convince city council the city should have some say about what acts perform at Bayfest.

He said MÖTLEY CRÜE's off-stage antics are "pornographic" and could harm the city's image.

Council did not support him, and several members said they don't want to become a censor board for outdoor events, even those on city-owned property.

Boushy's moral outrage over MÖTLEY CRÜE's July 10 appearance in Centennial Park unleashed a flood of comment supporting the band on websites Tuesday.

Fall Out Boy Team With 'Gimme Shelter' Director For Rock Doc

Back in September, as headset-wearing producers and stern-looking dudes in tool belts scurried in and out of Fall Out Boy's Fantasy Suite at the Palms Hotel and Casino, bassist Pete Wentz stood in the hallway, looking somewhat bewildered and talking to guitarist Joe Trohman about his desire to have someone "document all this crazy sh--."

free music

Well, it looks like he found his man. In keeping with pretty much everything Wentz does, it's a rather surprising choice: legendary documentary filmmaker Albert Maysles, one-half of the team that made the Rolling Stones' seminal "Gimme Shelter" tour film and later, "Grey Gardens," a look at a pair of aging socialites living in a crumbling mansion in the Hamptons.

It's a particularly amazing moment for FOB, and to be honest, they're still not really sure how it happened. (...)

Radiohead prepares for physical release of CD / New Year's Performance on Current TV

Radiohead_image source
London-based indie label XL Recordings is living up to its name by playing an extra-large role in one of 2007's biggest music industry stories after snagging the physical release of Radiohead's "In Rainbows."

free music

The left-field rock band effectively threw the recording industry rule book out the window when it released the studio set through its own Web site October 10, allowing downloaders to set their own price.

Speculation over who would issue the album physically spiraled until October 31, when XL announced it would release the CD on New Year's Eve worldwide -- excluding the United States, where it lands the following day through Dave Matthews' ATO Records, and Japan, which sees a December 26 release through Hostess.

XL now faces several unknown factors -- not the least of which is finding out how a new album performs after being available digitally for three months.

RADIOHEAD ON TV

A special performance by Radiohead will be aired exclusively in the USA by Current TV on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. The band will be performing all of the tracks from its newest album, In Rainbows, for a taped, private, hour-long performance, which will run commercial-free on Current TV and on www.current.com simultaneously.
