Bone Garden is the first single to be lifted from I Am Ghost's new album 'Those We Leave Behind'. Bone Garden is loud, fast and powerful, the kind of song to start a gig off with. It grabs your attention quickly and the tempo keeps you wrapped up in it right to the end. The most notable element for me is the production. Full and clear tones from the guitars are evident in Bone Garden and make it easier to here every note played with clarity, which in my opinion is vital to this post-hardcore style of music.
The song writing too is well done. It follows a very traditional structure but its a structure that works well across all genres. The verse is a guitar wielding monster which flows well into a chorus that's quite catchy, mixing singing and screaming to good effect. The breakdown is />... | Full Time Hobby
There must have been some sense of pride in Austin when its goliath of a music festival, South by Southwest, finally had a local buzz band. And it’s nice to finally see and hear a much-hyped band that doesn’t look or sound as though huge worldwide success means too much to them. Which is just as well, because although bands are usually hyped as the next big thing, I suspect the hype surrounding White Denim has more to do with their potential to produce more genuinely brilliant underground records like ‘Workout Holiday’, rather than any potential to top the charts and festival headline bills. Here’s hoping though,,,or rather not. You see White Denim are one of those ‘Buddy Bands’, a band you share a love for with your mate rather than the world.

Twenty years after the release of her debut record, Tracy Chapman is back with a new studio album and is still up there with the best of today's singer /songwriters, which has un-disputably secured her place in the history of popular music.
'Our Bright Future' comes at a time when radio friendly music doesn't really seem to have a definitive trend - the music consumers' obsession with guitar based pop-indie acts like The Pigeon Detectives, Scouting for Girls and the likes now seems terminal and acts such as The Pussycat Dolls, Dido and Craig David are all equally matched and are competing for sales. This is obviously good news for Chapman, because this is one of the few periods in the last 2-3 years where taste has overpowered trend and people aren't afraid to buy music simply because />... | Mush
It is generally quite easy to tell whether or not an album is good. You can listen to it a few times and perhaps occasionally add some songs into mix CD's you make for friends, or you can listen to a few tracks, decide it was a mistake and take it back to the store you bought it from. Her Space Holiday’s XOXO, Panda and the New Kid Revival however, is neither of these two options, because it is neither good nor bad. It is in fact outstanding, so much so that you become captivated by the melodies and lyrics so much that you loose track of time. Every time I find myself putting on XOXO, Panda, I find myself utterly mesmerized by it. Then again being a massive fan of Californian pop, I might be a bit biased.

On arriving at the venue, I was very excited, mainly because Frank was doing his soundcheck, but also because the venue was very small! Bring on the up close and personal music love. I then went to do my interviews with Frank and Chris, who are both wonderfully nice men, and got even more excited about the music love. Met up with my mates and then went back into the main room to find a room full of people sat on the floor! I was told this happens a lot at the Tower Arts Centre – but you can’t rock sitting down people! So we marched our way to the front which meant one half of the room had to stand up. Heh.
Chris T-T and his band The Hoodrats rocked out with mainly songs from his newest album, Capital – which is ace – and yet the second half of the room remained seated. Chris did try to />... | Epic
Having followed Lemar all the way through the old-school Fame Academy series (back when the telly format was reasonably fresh!), I’ve always considered the Tottenham-born soulster to have more musical integrity and smoother grooves that many other R&B artists.
R&B is not my thing. On the surface I often think of the genre as pretentious, plain, and a straightforward blast of OTT production and lyrical egotism, but I wanted to give Lemar’s fourth studio album, new release “The Reason”, a fighting chance to prove to me that good quality commercial music is not a thing of the past. And also that stubborn indie-pilgrims can indulge in something more accessible occasionally!
On an initial listen it’s clear that Lemar’s bowled off in a slightly different musical direction, as I can’t find />... | Geffen Records
It took 15 years and about $20 million to make Chinese Democracy. Considering there are 14 songs on the album, that's over a year and around $1.4 million per track. I heard the singles, so I already know it's not packed full of million dollar songs. But, before I really rip into this album, there is something we need to get out of the way. The name. No, not Chinese Democracy. Guns N Roses. I don't have a problem with the fact that Axl is the only original member in the band. What I do have a problem with is that Axl's ego is so big I'm sure he'd sue the pants off anyone who tried to take credit for any small portion of this album. For that reason, it is not Guns N Roses, it is Axl Rose. Now onto the content of the record (and further evidence that this is actually a solo album).

Munroe Effect start off their EP with "The Escape (part one)". It’s an electronic based, finger picked guitar intro; think Radiohead’s In Rainbows. The Portsmouth based band lead you into a subtle verse with background guitar playing that can only be described as a harmony rich trance. The drums soon jump in and really kick off The Escape, it carries on building but doesn’t quite get you to that end your after. While you think your ending on an anti-climax, you’re thrown straight into the next song, "Death of a tin God".
To really appreciate the intro to Death Of A Tin God you need to carry a straight listen on from The Escape. If you are ever dropped right into the intro, it doesn’t really fit to the rest of the song. Despite this, the band deliver yet another cracking verse, with />... | | From Zero-G the makers of Vocal Forge

The Plain White T's have done what most bands strive for. They started at the ground level and worked their way up to the bright lights of Hollywood. 'Hey There Delilah' was a massive hit for the band, turning them into major label heavy-hitters. Now out with their first album since their big break, Big Bad World, The Plain White T's are happy. Altsounds: First things first, where does the name Hoobastank come from?
Hoobastank [Dan Estrin]: Well, the word "HOOBA" is Latin for "one with much passion for". STANK is Greek for "a woman's rectum".
