Steven Curtis ChapmanFrom Kentucky, Stephen is steeped in country and pop music. More traditional than the other artists mentioned here - he combines mainstream pop with worship. He is a brilliant songwriter and has written songs for Glen Campbell as well as winning the Gospel Writers Assocaiation Songwriter of the Year and a Grammy. If you want to hear soaring strings and passionate songs try Declaration SwitchfootAlternative rock with pop sensibilty from this San Diego trio. Inhabiting the same area as U2 and more offbeat alternative bands. Check out Learning to Breathe Jars of ClaySoft rock band, plenty of acoustic songs but not afraid of electric guitars, and fronted by Dan Haseltine as the singer and lyricist. Crafted, considered lyrics and a talent for melody make this band special. Their debut Jars of Clay is considered by many as still their best album
