Solomon Burke - Make Do With What You Got

Solomon Burke - Make Do With What You Got Solomon Burke, the self-professed king of rock and soul, lives up to his billing with a new album titled Make Do With What You Got. The man recorded his first album in 1962. That is a mighty long time to be in the game of making music. I certainly seems like Burke is showing no signs of slowing down with this great recording.

The opening track “I Need Your Love in My Life” kicks out the jams as King Solomon walks the line to killer hook filled guitar lines courtesy of Ray Parker Jr. This is quality music, there are few old soldiers left that know how to do it right and Burke is one of them. When he sings his lament, “What Good Am I,” it is not hard to see that he is wearing his heart on his sleeve. “I Got The Blues” is drenched in the from-the-gut soulful blues that was born in the cotton fields so long ago. He also reminds us of the important things in life and that “Wealth Won’t Save Your Soul.”

Trust me, when you hear the first track pop out of your speakers and settle in to hear this album, you will want to give this CD a spin more than once. In fact, I would be willing to bet that this album will become one of your favorites this year if you have a soft spot for great music-blues, R & B and soul to be more specific. I cannot believe how long this man has been around pumping out the tunes, he truly is a living legend, a proud monument to his style of music. Isaac Hayes has nothing on this guy believe it!
