Jack Bruce, Paul Rodgers, Tab Benoit, Peter Green, John Mayall, George Thorogood…need I continue to convince you that this may be the best blues compilation you will hear this year? I didn’t think so, because these are all names that are synonymous with the genre and music in general. If you know da blues, and blues-rock in particular, then you will realize that this star-studded event is a once in lifetime blues celebration that you cannot pass up.
When I heard “Custard Pie (revisited)” all I could think of was Led Zeppelin’s classic Physical Graffiti album. What a rockin’ blues number it is, with wailing slide guitar and emotive vocals,
Matt Tutor and Derek Trucks do one hell of a job. I have to say that every track on this CD has its moments. I also really enjoyed Luther Allison’s “Fistful of Dirt” and Mayall’s “Kids Got The Blues,” his own personal anthem to the young blues blood that he is so excited about. To put the final icing on the cake, Fleetwood Mac ends the album with “Got To Move,” a bonus cut. If your like me and love da blues, you need to check out this CD today!
