Toto - 25th Anniversary Live in Amsterdam
|
Filmed live at the Heineken Arena, Amsterdam, Netherlands, February 17, 2003, the Toto 25th Anniversary Live in Amsterdam DVD is a live musical gala covering the band’s long and successful career.
Bobby Kimball’s voice is one in a million that you would recognize anywhere and Steve Lukather has made his mark in the band and several other outside projects, particularly over the last few years. Simon Phillips is an incredible percussionist; he has sat in on as many sessions as Tony Levin has, he is just all over the place and for Toto to have him in their band is indeed a blessing. Mike Porcaro is the last of the Porcaro brothers left in the band and watching him play is similar to witnessing a well-oiled machine in action, he is workman-like and intense. To round out the diverse Toto sound is the incorrigible David Paich, whom adds the indispensable softer pop touches to every song on the keyboards. Tony Spinner (guitar, vocals) and John Jessel (vocals, keyboards) provide an essential additional element to help level out their rich sound.
Besides playing all of their hits, everyone in the band gets an opportunity to display their talents as individually talented musicians on solo flights…although together, they are simply incredible. As a bonus there is some hilarious backstage and tour footage of the band on their recent Through The Looking Glass Tour, which is an added bonus to the already lengthy satisfying concert video. The quality of this project is outstanding in every aspect, making it a real keeper for your DVD archives.
