 Hotsocky - Hotsocky

Hotsocky - Hotsocky Hotsocky, interesting name isn’t it? I guess it could mean a number of things. I do know one thing; they know how to play music with a hook. This is power pop with enough of an alternative angle to bring in the younger college audience including many other age groups. The cover of their self-titled release Hotsocky certainly evokes a get-down-and-get-funky with your bad self attitude, which does make you want to grab your partner and dance, so it is effective. Once you hear the music, I guarantee your feet will start moving at once.

The lyrics revolve around the state of mind and attitudes of certain people (I am assuming). “Time Bomb” warns the subject that they are an accident waiting to happen and “Meltdown” serves as another red flag in regards to someone’s mental demise unless they “Power Down.” Then again, you could always just “Believe” and not “Panic.” “Love's Sick” would be the obvious choice for a single if they released one, it draws you in like a magnet. Whatever track is playing, you will be able to relate to what they are singing about in some way. The best thing is that it is all set to hard driving melodic pop rock that sticks to you just as peanut butter does in your belly.

The twelve songs on this CD seem to melt into each other and it comes natural to hit the play button once more to listen to it all over again. The lyrics may be disparaging and matter of fact but the music softens up their message enough to make it all more digestible. I particularly liked the crossover appeal that this music possesses. Get this album if you are a roll down the windows and turn up the speakers type.
