Ronnie Wood - Far East Man
|
This is a good DVD to watch Ronnie Wood removed from his regular gig with the Rolling Stones. It displays his talents as a solo artist very well and you get to see some of his family members, Leah and Jessie Wood, together with him on the same stage. It is a nice thing to see. Slash shows up for guest appearance to display his well-known virtuosity on the six-string, bouncing notes back and forth with Wood.
Wood has a raspy hard-edged voice that takes a bit of getting used to, but you do as the concert wears on because his guitar playing is so good you tend to forget that he is not a talented lead singer. If you ever wondered why Jagger and Richards do most of the singing for the Stones, watch this DVD, it shows you why. I am not trying to take anything away from the talented guitar man and artist (there is a special section with a gallery of his paintings) I am merely stating the obvious regarding his talents.
This was not one of the better DVDs I have watched this year but it was entertaining nevertheless and it captured the legendary Ron Wood covering the many songs he has been a big part of over the years. Like it or not, sometimes that is enough.
