Ray Davies/The Kinks - Ray Davies: Return to Waterloo/Come Dancing ...
|
The multi-talented Ray Davies and his legendary band The Kinks are bundled into this double feature DVD. The first segment Ray Davies: Return to Waterloo is about a rapist that travels throughout the city looking for victims while his good wife remains at home patiently awaiting the return of her estranged husband. One part of the storyline, a scene when the main character is on the train, was similar in some ways to Pink Floyd’s The Wall movie with the rebellious youth uprising against the status quo. The one thing that came to mind was the line…Teacher leave them kids alone. The story became boring very quickly and I was glad when it was over as I could move on to the more stimulating and more entertaining videos in the Come Dancing With The Kinks section. Well, at least I thought it would unfold that way.
There are eight videos, three live performances, “Lola,” “You Really Got Me” and “Celluloid Heroes,” which was quite enjoyable but too short lived. Even though this is one of those more-bang-for-your-buck deals, it does not hit the mark. I suppose I am much too spoiled at this point because most of the DVDs that I view have a lot of great live footage and an overabundance of bonus features. This DVD is suitable for the diehard Kinks fans out there that want everything the band has released.
