Ray Wilson - Live And Acoustic
|
Ray Wilson turns progressive rock classics into acoustical splendor on his “Live And Acoustic” release. Do not expect the intensity and fire of progressive rock when you look at all of those great Genesis titles, relax, it is not what you are going to hear.
Wilson has a tremendously powerful voice with a slight gruffness that really does justice to all the great songs he covers. He also has a definitive Irish brogue when he speaks, but it seems to disappear when he sings. I have often wondered how that happens with people from Great Britain, Ireland, and Scotland that are vocalist.
Not only is his voice an instrument, his guitar serves as an excellent accompaniment to his stellar vocals. If all the Genesis tunes are not enough for your eclectic taste, he covers Springsteen, Dylan, and The Eagles. In addition, he does a very nice job with all of those covers. The live setting is as intimate and personal as the music he presents; he so generously offers that very special gift to his listeners. If you have an open mind and like the unplugged versions of songs, you will absolutely love this CD.
