 Julius Bragg - Transceiver

Julius Bragg - Transceiver Guitar based musical rocket fuel is the best way to describe the music of
Julius Bragg on their high-octane release “Transceiver.” The vocals are reminiscent of Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam, that in and of itself is one tick in the yes box for the rock ‘n’ roll stamp of approval. This group, with their hook filled uncompromising sound, has put together an impressive 12 tracks worth of music. They got their name from the annals of history. It is a two-part deal, one from Julius Caesar, and the other in how he would brag when he won a battle. So what took so long to discover these guys anyway? Maybe being from the home of Kellogg’s Corn Flakes, Battle Creek, Michigan, was a factor, who knows? Well, Rome wasn’t built in a day either. All kidding aside, this group has heaps of talent, and they are poised for the mainstream success of groups like Pearl Jam.

I am not easily impressed, and it seems I have become more selective with the passing of time, so they really passed the litmus test with this listener. What I appreciated the most about this band was their consistency and their ability to connect each song, one after the other, with a superlative flow and energy that is rare with a major artist or an indie.

My favs were “Mrs.Green,” “A Lot Like You,” and “Holding Steady.” Actually, I felt the entire CD was a great listen or I couldn’t have rambled on and raved as I have. If you dig rock music that goes from first gear to fifth in a matter of seconds, you will enjoy this ride. Hey, I listened to this CD at least four times, so it was a ride that I decided to take repeatedly. Its time you rolled down the windows of life and let the cool breeze of Julius Bragg massage your ears.
